Dating back to 1582, this antique map of Jerusalem is the oldest accurate representation of the city. Initially hand-coloured over 450 years ago, it was initially included in Civitates Orbis Terrarum, which featured a total of 546 maps. The map captures the city from a viewpoint to the east, depicting 48 key buildings, many of Christian importance, although at the time the area was dominated by Islam and the Ottoman Empire. Prominent landmarks include the Old City's eastern wall, the Temple Mount, and the Jaffa Gate.
